twist OUT pic

first off, this pic if from a twist out a couple days ago. i wore that style about 3 days. after my 5:30am work this morning i just wasn't feelin it anymore. so instead of completely re-washing my hair i sprayed with water and re-twisted. for some odd reason i'm thinking it's gonna come out looking really good, so i will post a pic later when i take out the twists.

side note... i've been hanging out with one of my friends who has dreads and the looks we get are crazy. it's hard to tell if people are just curious about our hair, admiring, hating, either way it's funny to me.

a couple days ago i posted about maybe wearing braids as a protective style, but i've definitely decided not to. if i did that, then what the ef would i blog about... my braids... naw, i'm good! haha.

ppls lil comments

something thats kind of annoying for me... when close friends know that i'm growing my hair natural, but occasionally make comments saying
"so, when are you gonna straighten your hair"
"how long is this fro faze gonna last"
"are you gonna comb your hair"
"i was looking at your older pics with different styles, maybe you should try one of those"
"is that a weave"
"is that a wig"
"can i touch it"
---i hadn't seen my older brother in about 3 years who is married to a caucasian female. after we talked for a few minutes he looks at my hair and says so what are you gonna do with your hair? what the! on this particular day i was rockn an AMAZING twist out!
those are just a few things that tend to get on my nerves. but, i'm sticking to it because i love my natural hair. my hair has so much shrinkage i'm waiting for the day when my twist out is HUGE!

protective style??

i'm thinking of doing a protective style, but at the same time i think i will just end up depressed because i love playing with my hair! my reason, because i'm starting to feel as if i trimmed to much off my hair when i went deadly with the scissors last week. i've had twists in since yesterday and will be taking them out today, so i think the will determine if i do a protective style or not. i kinda already leaning towards not because i dont want to break my hair off. we shall see.

my fro hawk thoughts

just wanted to give my thoughts on the wash n go i had yesterday with gel. i really didn't care for my wash n go yesterday. i really think the main reason was because of the gel in my hair. gel made my hair so hard, which i already knew was going to happen. i'm used to having a twist out with soft hair that feels good to the touch. maybe it was good that the gel kept my hands out of my hair, but me personally do not have a problem with putting my hands in my hair. i like the way it feels and how it looks with the twist out so much better. i'm sure i will have more wash n goes as my hair continues to grow, but as far as the gel... not a fan, don't like the hardening of my hair. i re-twisted my hair early this morning and will probably take the twists out 2day or 2morow.

fro hawk

today i did a fro hawk! after conditioner washing my hair i sprayed with olive oil, applied leave in shea butter conditioner, then applied gel throughout hair while twisting different pieces of hair with my fingers. its definitely not as stretched out as a twist out. i personally do not like a fro hawk on me, but figured i would give it a try since i didn't feel like twisting my hair. 2morow i'm going back to a twist out.

trimmed split ends

2 days ago i trimmed my hair! yep, did it myself. washed my hair then flat ironed it for my trim. i was shocked by how long my hair was, touched my shoulders! i probably trimmed to much, the plan was to just trim the split ends, but ended up cutting off almost an inch. i got scissor happy, but my hair definitely needed the split ends cut off. i was upset at first by how much i cut off, but realized it will just help it grow. i will post pics 2morow!

make hair grow faster, Dr. Oz

Dr. Oz says to stimulate hair growth massage your scalp at least once a day for 3 minutes. that's not long, do it while you watch tv, do it while you're in traffic, do it when you're thinking of something to do... just do it! i'm doing it, easy to make your hair grow faster! :)

my hair today

here are some pics of my hair today...

quick re-fix

my go to style is obviously the twist out. If i know i have something special planned the next day/evening and i've been rockin the same twist out for about a week or so and don't want to re-twist my whole head, instead i will re-twist the front and/or any section that could use some touching up. it really saves time! and if your hair is feeling or looking dry, apply a small amount of your favorite moisturizer to your hands and rub/distribute throughout your hair. just a quick fix :)

working out

my mom told me yesterday i should talk about working out with natural hair. she has sista-locs and i'm let it be free girl, therefor we are both natural and we had a convo about this.

i honestly feel that working out is so much easier with natural hair! while going to high school and college i played basketball all throughout school. meaning, i was working out everyday and still do... well 5 days a week now, not everyday. in college we would run early in the mornings, then have practice later on that evening. during that time i had a relaxer, so i would have to straighten my hair again after workouts or just keep it tied back so i wouldn't have to deal with it. constantly straightening your hair causes so much DAMAGE! it's not good, or healthy.

when i workout i am dripping wet! i usually run for about 2 to 3 miles then do weights or the stepper. lol, the weights don't show, so lets not comment about that! ha! ...after my workout i honestly don't have to do anything to my hair, sometimes a quick fluff, maybe. my hair isn't to long at this point, so maybe as it gets longer that will change. i hope not. i remember days when i had a relaxer and thinking, "ok, im not working out today so my style will last for tonight" lol

so to all those wondering about working out with natural hair, from my experience it's a whole lot easier for me! i would say if it wasn't. let me know your experiences with working out... im curious!

r u wearing a wig

so read this- hadn't seen my aunt in probably 3 years or so! while were sitting at the table chatting she's sitting next to me. i keep seeing her out of the corner of my eye eying me. i turn the opposite way to say something to my dad and she quickly puts her hands in my hair to feel my scalp to see if my hair was real! what the! lol when i turn quickly to look at her, she says she's been eying my hair all day and wanted to know if it was a weave or a wig! "IT'S MY HAIR"
i was rockn a twist out that day, apparently it looked so good, my aunt couldn't believe it! she then went on to question me how i did it and the best part- she said she didn't know NATURAL hair could look that GOOD! lol. yes, baby it can look that GOOD!
